Flooding update
Roma has been flooded badly, and the Roma Church of Christ are gearing up to help their local community. The church building has escaped damage, and church leadership are currently working through how they can best help their local community.
St George is currently undergoing a crisis situation with the town flooding and the residents being evacuated. The Balonne River is expected to peak tonight, in what will be the most devastating flood in over 100 years.
Churches of Christ in Queensland has a number of Care services located in St George including Warrawee Aged Care Services, South West Healthy Ageing Program, St George Community Early Childhood Centre, Warrawee Family Day Care and St George Mobile Children’s Services.
Divisional teams are working closely with these services to ensure residents and clients are looked after and staff are supported during this time. A Crisis Management Team has also been enacted to support the service managers and staff at the affected services. St George Community Early Childhood Centre has closed and staff have prepared the site as best as possible to manage the expected flood waters on the property.
Residents from Warrawee Aged Care Services are in the process of being evacuated to our Moonah Park site and will be cared for there until the crisis is over.
How can you help?
Prayer support - please pray for those affected by the floods.
Pray for the local church as they seek to help their community. Pray for the safety of our Aged Care residents, clients, families, staff and the general community. Pray for the managers as they coordinate the evacuations and settling in our residents in their temporary accommodation. Pray for wisdom for the officials who are coordinating the emergency response.
Make a donation
Churches are able to make a donation to assist people who experience hardship and loss as a result of the flood. Donations can be made to Churches of Christ in Queensland – call 1800 600 900 or mail to PO Box 508, Kenmore 4069 Qld.
We will keep you informed with any relevant information as the situation progresses.

giving to others. They heighten our respect for one another, and they
encourage Australians to think about the responsibilities of
citizenship in our democracy."
“Awards in the Australian honours system represent the highest level of
recognition accorded by our nation for outstanding achievement and
